Spyderco Southard Flipper C156
In early 2012 Spyderco Inc and Southard Knives began work on the first Spyderco Flipper. For both of us it was alot of fun, but also a challenge. We were working on creating a knife, and opening mechanism that Spyderco had never done before. However we both wanted to use most high tech materials, and construction methods available. When the sent me the first prototype, I was floored, to say the least. What they had created was mirror copy of the handmade prototype I had made. It was Perfect!!
It has been a huge hit! Since the first varieation had been such a hit, we decided to do an all black version. What I like to call the Stealth version. This model came out in early 2014.
While these were the first flippers Spyderco has done, as well as my first collaboration with them, you can be certain it will not be the last. So stay turned for updates on my news feed, facebook, instagram, or my USN forum for announcements on future projects.
